It is no
secret that I have always been fond of water. I swam and
sailed my early years away, mainly as a competitive swimmer
but also swimming and freediving after as many ´rubber
animals´ as possible in the pool in the backyard of my parents
house and also match racing and enjoying holiday trips in my
parents boat.
As a teenager I lived one
year in Florida where I graduated from High School. Thanks to
my usual luck I was placed in a water-loving family who lived
on the snow-white beach of the Emerald Coast by the Gulf of
Mexico so all time before and after school I spent surfing,
snorkeling and swimming. With a house full of surfboards, a
lap pool in the back yard, a sailing boat behind the house and
with dolphins, stingrays and wonderful friends the year was
more or less like a dream.
After having studied biology
at the University of Aarhus in Denmark for a couple of years,
where I also played underwater rugby and practiced spear
fishing, I moved to Spain. I studied at the University of
Barcelona and became a member of the diving club C.I.B.
Through this club I was introduced to underwater hockey which
I really liked playing right away. This culminated in my
participation at the European Championship in Kranj - Slovenia
with the Spanish national team in 1999.
Since then I have taken up
underwater rugby again and am now playing on the Danish
national team. I participated in the World Cup of freediving
in Nice in 2000 and the World Championship on Ibiza
October 2001. In the first Danish indoor freediving
championship in 2001, I won all three disciplines and
this year I won the Danish freediving championship in
August.
I am now doing more specific and concentrated
training and aim for new and bigger records towards the end
of the
year.
